Ari falls, screaming.

“Save me! Save me! I’m ready to ascend, please!” She reaches out toward you but then you realize she’s not reaching toward you at all— there’s someone behind you. You turn to find a ripple of light there in the doorway. A hum fills your head like hot cotton.

“I’m ready,” she says once more through a mouthful of blood and then lies still and dead.

The light disappears in a blink, along with the hum.
