In contrast to the rest of the ship, the research lab is in tidy order.

There are notes scribbled on the glass partitions. The microscopes are still powered up and glow an eerie blue. A computer still has a compilation of lab results onscreen. You take a moment to read the notes:

…they offer something they call “Ascension”. A new reconfiguration of our human body into something entirely new. We still know nothing of their physiology (or science) but from what they have communicated to us this is a sort of forced leapfrog of evolution for us. The opportunity to become something so much more advanced than human. There are so many arguments among the crew, but my mind is already made up. This is a once in a lifetime chance. Besides, what does it mean to be human, anyway?
